My name is Mikayla and I am an Artist based out of the Ozark Mountains in Northern Arkansas.
Most of my adult life has been spent on the road, living nomadically in the backwoods of the West. My partner Jay and I have chosen a lifestyle that is based on living intentionally close to the land, because it is what makes us feel most on purpose and wholesome. We spent a decade+ seeking out the hidden pockets of Nature that man forgot to touch, and considered ourselves lucky to call these secluded pockets “home”. We live by the seasons and cherish the gifts of each of interval. We got to know the West quite well over years, enjoying our fair share of foraging, hot springin’, skiing, rockhounding, playing and explorin.
In 2021 we decided to expand our comfort zone, heading East out past Colorado which was new territory for us. We reached beyond the realm of the Western Region and found ourselves awe-struck and humbled by the Ozarks. We decided it was time for the next big adventure, living life as a “beginner” again. Learning new terrain, foliage and fauna, patterns of nature, ways of life and allowing ourselves the freedom to just BE in one place. Being stationary is a new lifestyle for us, but it has granted us so many beautiful opportunities we could have never experienced while living nomadically. We have been able to take our stewardship to new levels by building a dreamy permaculture garden, cultivating rich soil by rotational grazing pasture pigs, planting and nurturing a food forest, and thinning several acres of Eastern Cedar canopy to promote the life-giving native plants/grasses to grow and offer an abundant feed source to our local wildlife. It is hard work but an actual living dream! My craft has taken a bit of the backseat over the last few years as most of my energy flows to our homestead these days, but the love for my craft will forever remain and I am grateful for the opportunity to share these Nature inspired jewels with you!
My craft all began with a deep connection & appreciation for the woods. The more I immersed myself into the forest, the more on purpose I felt. You see, the wild provides both humility and a sense of oneness. It quietly reveals the miracles that surround us, with grit and grace. It delivers a reality of presence & patience. It instills wonder, and is my greatest muse.
Long before I was a jeweler, I had a dream. I wanted to spend my days out on the vast land, aware of time, but only by the way the sun would shine through the trees. I wanted to watch the seasons bend before my own eyes. I wanted to capture the divine energy of the woods and share it with those who could also feel its power. It is the greatest gift I could have ever imagined -that is, being able to craft nature inspired jewels AND sharing that sense of ‘Awe’ with fellow Nature Loving folks, like you!
