Man oh man does it feel good to be back in the studio! Spending a year away from my craft has certainly made me appreciate it in a new light. It feels like such a luxury to tinker around with these stones, mixing metals and playing with both new and old designs. I made you a short lil video so you can see into my world of both Metalsmithing while also tending to the needs of my homestead in between.
Integrating farm-girl life and finding my groove in my art studio is SO my jam, who knew!!!?
Metalsmithing in my old studio and old life felt a lot different then it does here, now. When I lived in Big Bear and spent so much of my time on the road, I had a tendency to spend 10 hours+ straight IN IT. I didn’t walk away from my bench much once I got rollin. But, being here is different. By the nature of where I am and my current lifestyle, I am invited to take breaks often which is a beautiful shift of pace and makes it feel so fresh every time I sit back down.
Being this time of year, with nightly temps below freezing, I have been letting my pigs free range and suck up the abundance of acorns that have fallen, making them VERY happy pigs. Their joy IS my joy.
