I've been a little distant from the internet the last few weeks, but its all for a very good reason! Jay and I have been brewin up some musical magic and felt called to a quiet clear head space. With an open and clear mindset, harmonious flow took place and we recorded our first handpan album (which we are quite proud of). The whole experience from the second we entered the studio was complete bliss, and I am so happy about the quality of songs we co-created together. They give me goosebumps!
BUT! let me tell you…. leading up to this experience was anything but bliss. The weeks leading up to our studio time were full of discomfort, self doubt and anxiety. I very rarely find myself in a postition of anxiety + fear but woahhhhhh it got a hold of me. 2 weeks before our scheduled studio time, I called the sound engineer and attempted to bail….something I am not proud of but I about had enough of the ickyness. I was not only talked out of bailing but left the conversation feeling ready and secure with the material we had prepared ( something I hadn’t felt in weeks) Thanks, Elliott. We fully committed and when the day came when we were suppose to drive down the hill and jump into the studio, we felt shockingly calm and excited. A new energy blanketed us both and we entered the studio with light hearts.
We spent the first 3 days laying down our handpan tracks + sleepin like a bunch of babies. The upright bass, cello + flute joined in the following days. The one thought that kept cycling through my mind was “feel the fear and do it anyways" . God am I glad that fear didn’t win this time. The Reward is SO MUCH GREATER than the risk. I am so glad that we did it and now have beautiful peaceful meditation music to share with the world. It is my wish that these songs find the right people at the right time and instill a sense of inner peace and self love.
Here are a few photos from our time in the studio, I’ll keep you in the loop but it’s looking like the album will be available this Fall!
